Post-Christmas lull

It is the post-Christmas lull around here. The fun and excitement and overindulgence of Christmas is over but it is still officially "the holidays" for me until January 2nd. All of the little one's usual activities are on hiatus and DH has some extended leave from work leaving me with two bored individuals to entertain! We attempted a bracing walk around the waterfront of Liverpool yesterday which was almost impossible due to high winds. After the little one's hat ended up in the Mersey (thankfully not a handknit!) we decided to take refuge in John Lewis haberdashery section. I had planned on avoiding the sales but somehow ended up buying a sweater's worth of Rowan Kid Classic in a lovely teal shade. There was a sweater dress in the latest Knitting magazine which I think I will knit.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. Lets talk about Christmas itself. I hope yours was filled with happy times. We have visited with relatives, made long distance phone calls to those who are too far away, eaten and drunk far too much and unwrapped lovely gifts. It sounds cheesy to say but I know I was very blessed to have all that. Christmas was also full of knitterly goodness. Firstly I won a prize in Knitting mag's 12 days of Christmas giveaway! I was so thrilled to received my parcel in the mail... ripped off the paper....

and unwrapped the most gorgeous set of Rosewood crochet hooks with Swarovski crystals in the handle. If they don't inspire me to finish my crochet blanket, nothing will!

I was also lucky enough to receive two fab books - Ysolda Teague's Little Red in the City and Debbie Stoller's Superstar Knitting (It goes to show that good things happen when you let enough people know about your Amazon wishlist!)

I have two FO's to share with you - one knitting and one sewing - so I plan to get some more posts up before 2012 and then I can start the year afresh with new plans and new projects.
