There was an awful lot of plain old knit and purl in this cardigan which made it great for TV knitting but also makes me pretty pleased to have finished it! I was both impatient to wear it and impatient to move onto something a little more challenging!

The pattern is
Senlis from Petites pièces et petits plus signés: la droguerie and it is written in adult, teenage and child sizes. It is a pretty simple pattern, the back and fronts are just rectangles with ribbing for shaping. The pattern is knitted conventionally - each piece is knitted separately from hem to shoulder and then seamed but I changed things around, knitting from the shoulder down to the bottom of the armscye and then joining the back and two fronts to knit it seamlessly down to the hem. Each front piece is as wide as the back to allow for the long collar to roll back on itself - so that made for some pretty long rows! But as I bought the yarn on holiday and couldn't easily get hold of more, this method allowed me to knit until the yarn ran out. I also added a few rows of garter stitch at the bottom hem as I did worry that the stocking stitch could curl.

The yarn really makes the pattern in my opinion as it is soft and has a beautiful drape. It has a soft haze without being overly fluffy. I used one strand of La Droguerie Alpaga in Lichen and one strand of La Droguerie Plumette in Fog sur la Tamise. I really like the greenish-grey hue that these yarns create when they are knitted together.

This cardigan is quite casual but I think that it will make my "daily uniform" of jeans and t-shirt look a little more chic.
I love it! The color and drape are incredible. You must be sooo patient with all that ribbing.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! It looks so comfy and warm!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I've always been drawn to this design but it seems so tedious to knit. Your version is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou are right - this will look great over jeans and a tshirt.
I love the vest. Where do you buy the pattern? Thanks.
