In just over 24 hours, as I write, we will be heading into 2013! How did that happen? I almost can't believe Christmas is over and we are heading into a New Year already. There is something about a new year, like a change of seasons, that makes me want to refresh, refocus and start over. In that vein I have been finishing off some projects that were lying around, including this one.
I knit this jumper over the course of December, I was attracted to the pattern as it was relatively plain to knit (so easy to work on when I was full of cold medicine) with just a little interest in the neckline shaping. It is a design called "Still" from Kim Hargreaves and her now out-of-print book called Thrown Together. I had wanted to knit this design since I bought the book however the cost of the yarn put me off. Fast forward a year or two and Rowan's Calmer was being discontinued and massively reduced in the sale. I think I paid £2/ball instead of £7.50, so the whole sweater cost £18 instead of £60... (Big difference - and that is why I'm a bargain hunter!) It's a shame the yarn is no more as it was lovely to knit with and it is lovely to wear. It knits to DK weight and creates a smooth fabric with just a little stretch.
I meant to post about my Christmas sewing goodies too but have just realised I haven't downloaded all the pictures from my camera. Needless to say I was spoiled by friends and family, and by my Sewist's Secret Santa who got me an amazing gift which I love. Pics tomorrow, I promise!

Very lovely and figure flattering!
ReplyDeleteThis jumper makes me wish I cold knit!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love the colour and the style, such a shame the book is out of print as I would be tempted to try and get hold of it just for this...perhaps eBay?!
ReplyDeleteYou knitted the entire jumper in one month?!? Wow!!! It's lovely Helen and what a bargain in the end!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love the color and the sleeves. So dramatic. :)
